My Work Showcase
I'm Jonathan Flanders a second year Civil Engineering Student at Newcastle University. I currently have the task of leading my group to design a sustainable High Speed Rail link between Chester-Le-Street and Morpeth in the North East of England. Last year I designed a sustainable development to an old Freight site in Gateshead. Throughout my time at university I have gained a wide variety of knowledge in Civil Engineering which puts me in a positions to take on tasks in many sectors of Civil Engineering.
STAGE 2 DESIGN
I am currently in my second year of four at Newcastle University. This year I was chosen to be team leader for our group design project. Our task was to design a High Speed Rail link between Chester-Le-Street and Morpeth in the North East of England. We have currently finished our Phase 1 presentation which involved a robust assessment to cut from ten initial routes down to one. We are currently in Phase 2 of our design which involves building a model of our state of the art interchange and maintenance facility and completing a horizontal and vertical alignment of our route.
STAGE 1 DESIGN
During my first year of Civil Engineering. Our team was given the brief to design a sustainable development just South of the River Tyne. This was to provide housing for over 400 people and allow them to have easy access to the community surrounding them. As you can see from the images below, our team managed to design a modern and efficient community development. Throughout this process I developed my skills with SketchUp and ArcGIS to create visual models to present to our client.
